Plastic sticks around in the environment for ages, threatening wildlife and spreading toxins. Plastic also contributes to global warming. Almost all plastics are made from chemicals that come from the production of planet-warming fuels (gas, oil and even coal).
Benefits of banning plastic
Although bag bans won't solve the plastic crisis on their own, they do help to change plastic consumption habits and cause consumers and retailers to be more open to alternatives. ... Banning single-use plastic bags is a small but critical first step towards tackling the plastic crisis. While paper is biodegradable and avoids some of the problems of plastic, Taylor says, the huge increase of paper, together with the uptick in plastic trash bags, means banning plastic shopping bags increases greenhouse gas emissions. That said, these bans do reduce nonbiodegradable litter.
Plastics can also be a major reason for air, water and land pollution.... Ban on plastic can help in reducing the manufacturing of it and encourage recycling and reuse hence reducing the amount of litter. To reserve the animal and bird species, and to protect our ecosystem banning of plastics can be helpful. Bans should be adopted because they are greatly effective at reducing big plastic waste. China banned plastic bags, and four years later, the amount of plastic bags thrown into the environment had reduced by 40 billion. Similarly, if the U.S. bans plastic, there would be fewer landfills. Pros of Plastic bag Bans
Plastic bags bans enhance the economy: Bans on plastic bags cause an uptick in business for reusable bag manufacturers and lead to increased employment opportunities.
Eliminating plastic bags reduces cost of goods: Stores have to factor in the cost of disposable bags into their prices. Plastic Bags Contaminate Food Sources. Those in favor of banning plastic bags argue that it would be one of the most effective ways to reduce the volume of plastic waste in the ocean. This would have major health benefits for both sea life and humans
Disadvantages of banning plastic Plastic materials have a bad reputation, but banning them could have some surprising negative effects. A ban could have repercussions on consumer convenience and even the economy without making a truly significant improvement to the environment. A Ban Could Be Detrimental. Banning plastic bags in lieu of cotton or paper could have a negative impact on the environment overall, not to mention the inconvenience of limiting reuse of those bags for everyday things like lining trash cans, protecting your belongings, or even cleaning up after your dog. Results Even though we should ban plastics, it would strongly affect the human population. But it would do a great good for everything else. If humans learn to manage without throwing plastics and litter everywhere we should be able to reduce or stop pollution entirely. But as of today we still have plastic. So its either band it or stop littering. We post new content every now and then. Be sure to subscribe and follow us so you never miss a post. Visit our YouTube channel and subscribe!
